Uganda

In a very small way, our organization has reached out to help the Jews of Uganda, the Abayudaya, situated near Mbale in Eastern Uganda. This small, well organized, and globally respected Jewish community has produced a Conservative ordained Rabbi, young Jewish camp and education leaders, and created coop farming amongst their members and Christian and Islamic neighbours.

We recently sent them a Samsung Laptop computer, which will give many community members access to the internet. The Amazon Kindle will be used as a means to send books in electronic form, which is really an efficient  and cost-effective way of transmitting documents. Fortunately, there are a number of students from Uganda currently in New York and they will take the items there on our behalf.
